April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. She is one of the few female players of beach volleyball who have done so. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian and will join her in Tokyo. Ross will also be hoping for her very first Olympic gold. As she turns 39, it could be Ross' last opportunity to claim the gold medal at an Olympics. Nevertheless she is confident that winning the gold medal is within reach. Ross stated via NBC Boston: "If we try our best, and even if we just play well I'm sure we'll be able to win gold." Also, it's the result of luck. Ross was born on the 22, 1982, in Costa Mesa California. She resided there along with her entire family. Ross's athletic endeavors began at Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of sports. As a pre-schooler she played basketball, indoor volleyball and track. While she did well at indoor volleyball however, it was evident that her abilities were higher than the average. In her college profile, she was an outside-hitting hitter, middle blocker, as well as a setter during her volleyball career at high school. Gatorade Circle of Champions named her the national Player 1999. In 2000, she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the Yr for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play in the year 2017. However, Ross was a major player in the beach volleyball scene before the pairing. It's true that she has won numerous events, and one was won by an iconic volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, between 2007 and 2013. She also coached Klineman and herself. Together with Kessy Ross was a force in the world circuit, winning an international title in 2009. They were awarded a silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team as well as Kerri Jennings won the gold. Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor after she had retired. Together, they took home bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in the year the year 2016. Ross began her collegiate time with the Trojans at USC in graduation from high school. It was a long time before Ross went to the beach and became a pro. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was remarkable. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman Of The Year and an All-American. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans reach their first Final Four. Her personal tragedy was a crushing loss during her sophomore year however she was able to return her place as an All-American. In her final two seasons with the Trojans, she helped them achieve consecutive championships. As an individual Ross established her status as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the most outstanding female college volleyball players across the United States. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross didn't get to witness Ross become the highest beach volleyball level. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast when she was in her sophomore year at USC. She has kept her mother in her the heart. And Margie remains a source of inspiration to her on the beaches and throughout her daily life.
